Swans nesting in Ropner Park
A pair of Swans have been nesting on one of the islands in the Ropner park lake.
We thought that there were only two eggs but when they hatched, there were six cygnets.
The father swan , seen above, is very protective of his family and will chase away man, duck or dog.
On the left are five of the cygnets, sunning themselves on the shore of the lake.

Well done Stockton. The town has once again gained gold in the Northumbria in Bloom Awards. Stockton also secured a Gold Award representing the region in the Champion of Champions category of the Britain in Bloom competition. The Ropner Park flowerbeds are always among the highlights of the floral displays.
We are becoming used to Stockton achieving these awards but it is no mean feat. Not every winner gains a gold awardand. The gardening staff have every right to be proud of their displays
Floral displays especially between the main gate in Hartburn Lane and the fountain. The this year the displays feature an "Olympic" theme sporting the official colours pink, yellow, purple and green. Over 34,000 plants decorate the park and instead of butterflies flying among the flower beds, we have large Olympic athletes.

Mature trees and sculptures. All around the park
The Lake with its bird life. Peaceful and tranquil.
Adventure playground and cafe. Conveniently situated near to each other. The playground is very popular and the cafe provides drinks and ices. Delicious home baked cakes and meals can be bought at very reasonable prices.
The Friends of Ropner Park run the cafe and also promote the concerts and events throughout the year.
