The Friends of Ropner Park charity in Stockton on Tees were proclaiming their sincere thanks to a generous benefactor all the way from America recently.
Whilst Mr Paul Dee may now live in The United States Of America, he still follows with interest and great affection the activities and work in Ropner Park ,which featured prominently throughout his 60 years in Stockton. A park he played regularly in as a child .
Mr Dee has previously dedicated a bench in the park to his late mum Madge Dee formerly a teacher at Oxbridge Lane school.
On this occasion Mr. Dee has sent a cheque for £250 to help the work of the friends group.
Chair of The Friends of Ropner Park charity Brian Scrafton said, “this is a very kind, thoughtful donation from the other side of the world and is a timely reminder of just how important in many lives, our local parks are, which is why we need to protect them, care for them and invest in them for future generations.
It’s been a joy to see so many people enjoying the park throughout these difficult months, able to enjoy fresh air and such a pleasant environment in which to exercise, relax and spend time. I must thank the volunteers and staff who have been brilliant throughout and also to thank Stockton Council for quickly ensuring the park could open safely .
This donation will help our work greatly and we offer our sincere thanks to Mr Dee.
